1. About MODAFE KOREA
Greeting its 28th festival, International MOdern DAnce FEstival(MODAFE) provides a place where artists from all over the world share their dance forms with full of modern senses, and where young talented Korean dancers have opportunities to be introduced to foreign art markets. Since its foundation in 1982, MODAFE has been playing a pivotal role in developing Korean modern dances by selecting and offering new foreign works as well as giving opportunities for creating challenging performances to Korean dancers.
MODAFE has been presenting performances from almost 100 foreign dance organizations and 300 Korean dance companies, securing its position as one of the most representative modern dance festivals in Korea. MODAFE takes place every year with full of experimental and exciting programs and events.
2. Background and purpose of MODAFE KOREA
£ªAs the festival hosted by Modern Dance Association of Korea, leading organization for the development of Korean modern dance, MODAFE pursue contemporary dances and avant-garde artistic spirit.
£ªFirst introducing recent performances from foreign renowned dance companies to the domestic market, MODAFE seeks for right understanding for the world art trends.
£ªMODAFE creates the ¡®Multi-Arts¡¯ through which various genres and art forms meet and converge each other.
£ªMODAFE provides foreign and domestic artists with co-production opportunities and builds international network of performing arts.
£ªMODAFE upgrades performing arts in Korea and secure its position in world markets.

4. Main events of MODAFE KOREA
£ªMain performances (Foreign invited performances / Domestic talented choreographer performances)
Provides international networking place by introducing newly created foreign performances and new works by top choreographers in Korea
£ªSpark Place
Program to foster young talented choreographers between ages of 25~32 through the competition. The participating teams are decided through auditions for 3 times, and a winner is selected after their performances and has the opportunity to become a <MODAFE Invited Choreographer> at next year¡¯s MODAFE as well as gets awarded by New Choreographer¡¯s Award by Modern Dance Association of Korea.

Films showing the flows of global modern dances are presented to audience during the festival.
£ªMODAFE Workshop
Provides young Korean dancers with opportunities to learn advanced trends of world modern dance from globally renowned choreographers.
£ªMODAFE Talk
Time for audiences to talk with foreign invited choreographers and dancers after their performances. It enables audience to better understand the performances.
£ªMOS (Modafe Off Stage)
Program designed to combine all forms of artistic genres. Presents experimental and powerful off-stages, overcoming the concept of space.
